Archaically tribadism was defined as “a lesbian practice” of a partner stimulating their clitoris using their vulva on their partners body parts. It’s been particularly defined as the missionary of lesbians, and as a form of imitating the heteronormative way of heterosexual couples having sex in the missionary position. Tribadism gets its crude name from the fact that tribadism was an uncommon practice for women who tried to achieve sexual satisfaction of their will and acts, with no man involved. These women were often ridiculed because in ancient Greek times there was a belief that women could have penetrative sex with just vulva to vulva contact.

Enough with the history lesson, now let’s get to the terminology and get all the confusing jargon out of the way. The vulva is the outer lips of a woman’s genitalia, made of labia majora (the bigger lip), labia minora (the smaller lip) and the clitoris. People commonly refer to the vulva as the vagina, however this is biologically wrong, as the vagina is the inner muscular canal leading to the cervix and the womb. The tribades are the people participating in scissoring.
Now that’s out of the way, how do people actually scissor? There are different ways that people scissor. The most common way would the missionary position (of course there are other positions too), where of the two partners one would be on top and dominating all the stimulation and sensation, and how intense they are and how fast or slow they can go. This is what I’ll focus on most and how this can be adapted into other ways of tribbing.
It is possible for both partners to achieve an orgasm from scissoring and experience squirt, creaming or just general being wet. Sex can be all things amazing if it is done right, and stimulation hits all the right sports!
